Staying at the Sunshine Mountain Lodge
The Sunshine Mountain Lodge sits high in the Canadian Rockies, at 7,200 feet in the heart of Sunshine Village Ski & Snowboard resort. Because it is the only ski-in, ski-out accommodations in Banff National Park, you can be the first on the slopes each morning. You will be staying in an extraordinary place in the heart of a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This exceptional experience will give your family life-long memories.
UPON ARRIVAL [click to expand]
Check-in (base)
Check-in is on the north side of the Bourgeau building at the gondola base (the building with the clock tower). Once inside, you will be greeted by a Front Desk Agent who will confirm your reservation and rate.
Your luggage will be tagged and sent up to your room. Expect your bags in your room in about three hours; we guarantee four hours. We recommend you keep breakables and valuables with you (e.g.: laptop computers, video cameras and anything that might freeze). These items can be stored at the concierge desk, located on the lobby level of the lodge.
For those wanting to get on the slopes right away, dressing rooms are available near the check-in desk. Access to lodge rooms is guaranteed by 4 p.m. If you wish to ski or snowboard on your day of arrival, there will be an additional charge.
Parking
Preferred lodge guest parking is close at hand.
Gondola
Last gondola boarding is 5 p.m., except on Fridays, when the gondola is open until 10 p.m. There is no access to the hotel outside of gondola hours. For the 20-minute gondola ride to the village, you should dress warmly.
Lift Tickets
Your stay at the Sunshine Mountain Lodge includes next-day skiing or snowboarding. When you check in at the base, you receive tickets to access the gondola, as well as tickets for next-day skiing. If you wish to ski or snowboard on your day of arrival, there will be an additional charge.
Check-in (village)
Once you arrive at the Sunshine Mountain Lodge, the Front Desk Agent will take your credit card details, provide you with room keys, and explain the lodge features. Ski and snowboard lockers will be available for each room.

Quiet Policy
The Sunshine Mountain Lodge is proud to offer our guests a calm and quiet atmosphere within the lodge floors and rooms. We ask that all of our guests co-operate by keeping the volume level in their rooms to a minimum. Voices and foot traffic in the hallways, especially in the early hours, can be heard for some distance. Please respect fellow guests and keep the noise level to a minimum.
Alcohol Policy
Please note that we do not permit our guests to bring alcohol with them into our lodge. Guests may check alcohol with the Front Desk Agent at the base upon arrival; it will be returned upon departure.
Cancellation policy
Reservations may be cancelled at no charge, any time, up to 15 days before your arrival. Should you cancel within 14 days of your arrival date, you will forfeit the deposit.

The Sunshine Mountain Lodge has a variety of amenities and services to ensure your stay on-mountain is a remarkable one. These amenities & services include:
- One of Canada's largest outdoor hot pools;
- Sauna (Cedar-lined dry sauna, co-ed);
- Wireless internet service available (charges apply);
- Games room with pool table, jukebox and arcade games;
- Family room with sofas, big screen TV, wood-burning fireplace and board games;
- Complimentary equipment locker located conveniently in the basement of the new West Wing. Each locker has space for equipment, including boots, helmets and outerwear. A boot drying rack is available. (Please note we do not allow equipment in the lodge rooms or public spaces.)
- Spa services - After a day on the slopes, indulge in professional spa treatments including: hot stone massage, aromatherapy massage, deep tissue massage, and relaxation massage
In addition to our array of amenities and services, the Sunshine Mountain Lodge is happy to offer complimentary activities for guests staying at the Lodge. These activities include:
- Snowshoeing: Snowshoes available for hotel guests.
- Tobogganing: Tobogganing available tuesday, thursday and saturday evenings after lifts have closed on traditional maple wood toboggans.
- Trivia Night: Test your skill in a variety of topics from music to movies, and politics to people. Great prizes for winning teams.
- Board Game Tournament: Test your skill at some of the all-time favourite board games, including Monopoly, Scrabble, Clue and Risk.
- Movie Night: There is popcorn and treats as we feature an early show for the kids, followed by a late show for adults. Enjoy a different theme each week, from classics to recent releases.
- Trip into Town: On Friday night, you can head into Banff for the evening and catch the 10 p.m. last gondola back to the lodge. A shuttle bus is available to take you to and from the town of Banff. See the concierge for details
GETTING HERE [click to expand]
Sunshine Village is located in Banff National Park, just an hour-and-a-half from Calgary, Alberta. Getting there from the Calgary International Airport is a snap by car or coach.
Driving Directions:
- From the airport: Take Airport Trail west to Deerfoot Trail, and head south (left).
- Exit right (west) on 16th Avenue, which is Trans Canada Highway #1.
- Drive for more than an hour to the gates for Banff National Park, where you can purchase a pass for the vehicle.
- Continue west on the highway for approximately 15 minutes, past the Town of Banff. Exit onto the Sunshine access road just 8 km (5 miles) west of town, and drive until you reach the base area for Sunshine Village.
- Please note last gondola boarding is 5:30 pm except fridays when gondola is open until 10:30 pm. No access to hotel outside of these hours.
From the airport, the trip will take approximately 1 hour, 45 minutes.
